Frequently Asked Questions
What if I can't attend either of the dates?
We will record the session and send it out to registrants after the camp. Also, if there's enough interest for another camp, we'll host a third.

Is this camp for beginners only, or for advanced competitors as well?
There will be tracks for advanced and beginners. We think everyone will learn from the camp.

Why should I trust Blackstone?
Because, simply put, we have a track record. Moot Court is fairly new, but we've been around for almost as long as the event has. In the last three years, Ethan sent 15 teams to the National championship, and this past year, Ethan coached 9 of the 18 teams there.

Do we need a camp to do Moot Court?
No, not at all! Anyone can do Moot without a camp. However, competing without instruction is very difficult and can involve a steep learning curve. We help you avoid all the beginner mistakes and give you the jump start you need.

What topics will be covered?
We'll cover the basics: case writing, appendix reading, how to write compelling introductions and conclusions. And we'll tackle some advanced topics as well: how to best respond to judges' questions, how to improve your delivery, how to beat good teams, and how to practice during the year.

Will the camp be boring because it's online?
We know what it's like to receive online instruction. You hide behind a camera, lying on your bed, tuning in and out because it’s boring anyway. Not for us. Every coach is set on making this camp experience the most fun it can be. We play Jeopardy and Kahoot, we joke around a lot, and we use PowerPoints for every presentation to make sure we keep you engaged. Every year, we get better––and we’ve been doing this since 2020!

Will you be covering this year's packet?

Assuming it comes out by camp dates, we will be using the fresh 2024-2025 NCFCA Moot Court packet at the camp!ng day, figure out makeup dates with your coach. In general, we recommend weekly sessions so that we can consistently build on the progress you’ll be making.

Do you offer coaching during the year?
Yes, Patrick and Ethan both offer coaching sessions during the year. Check out the registration page for prices. There are limited full-time slots!

Do you offer non-Moot Court coaching?
Blackstone operates as a Moot Court-focused organization. However, the coaches also work as debate coaches (Patrick in TP, Ethan in LD), and we'd be happy to assist. It may be helpful to have one coach for all of your forensics events, so if you’re interested in receiving coaching in any of those events, email us and we’ll get you set up with a coach.
