Yeah, that's a bold claim. But we'll double down. Why?
First, the coaches live and breathe the year with you. We don't just offer some basic feedback on your case and ask you questions. Anyone can do that.
We research the caselaw with you. We tell you which cases are worth reading and worth skipping so you save yourself dozens of fruitless hours of reading. We show up to tournaments to watch our students and judge rounds so we can keep up with the "meta."
Second, we have a high amount of experience.
Each of our coaches this year have competed in a Moot Court finals round. They've all been trained by Blackstone's Head Coach, Ethan Tong. And they have extensive knowledge of the drills, activities, and arguments that take competitors from just okay to elite. Last year,
10 of the top 12 placing competitors at the National Championship were privately coached by Blackstone. Since the organization started, there have been 116 students receiving Blackstone coaching.
Third, we do everything we can to keep prices reasonable. We don't want coaching to be "only for the rich."
The cost of full-year coaching is just $15 per partner per week, substantially below usual coaching rates of $40 or even $50. And, if you want cheaper options, there's also 1/2 hour coaching, and
online club. We want anyone who wants coaching to be able to do coaching. We had 10 teams sign up for full-year last year, and 12 teams sign up for some sort of coaching throughout the year.
Signing up for coaching is simple. You start by filling out the coaching form by clicking the button above. It'll ask you your coach preferences and the best way to contact you. Once you've paid (details on that below), we'll get you in contact with a coach and you'll set up a date and time for the coaching session. If you still have any lingering questions, however, we'd be happy to take them over email, at blackstonemootcourt@gmail.com.
Full year coaching terms:
Full-year coaching begins the week of September 21st and runs weekly until April 19th. Accounting for winter break and three off-weeks, that is 25 sessions. Students who qualify for Nationals may request additional coaching after that point.
Coaches meet with students once per week and review caselaw, edit cases, and offer practice and drills. Coaches are also "on call" for students and provide assistance during tournaments, and answer any questions via text or email throughout the week.
Students who miss a scheduled session without 12 hour notice may make that session up at the coach's discretion. Coaches are generally quite flexible.
